What it means
Amana identifies AF / Check Vent as a restricted-airflow condition caused by a clogged lint screen or vent, or by venting that is crushed, kinked, or has too many turns.
Try this first
- Touch any key to clear the AF / Check Vent code from the display.
- Clean the lint screen.
- Check that the vent from the dryer to the wall is not crushed or kinked.
- Remove lint and debris from the dryer-to-wall vent run and the exterior exhaust hood.
- Confirm the vent run length and number of elbows are within the installation requirements.
- Start a Timed Dry heated cycle.
- If the message persists, have the complete home vent run cleaned by a venting specialist.
Can I keep using it?Correct the restricted-airflow condition before relying on normal dryer performance.
Repair usually required?Dryer repair is not the first action for AF; persistent airflow restriction may require professional vent cleaning or further service.
