KitchenAid Dishwasher F8E4 Error Code

What it means

KitchenAid F8E4 troubleshooting checks the water-supply connections, float switch, drip tray, and excessive-suds conditions.

Try this first

1. For a recent installation, inspect all water-supply connection points and make sure the rubber washer is seated correctly.
2. Check the 3/4-inch elbow connection at the valve. KitchenAid says to hand-tighten it and, if necessary, use pliers for an additional one-quarter to one-half turn to seal the gasket.
3. Make sure the fill hose is routed out the rear-left side of the dishwasher.
4. Make sure the float switch is connected correctly and that the power cord or wire does not contact the dishwasher motor or lower tub.
5. If water is present in the drip tray, empty it carefully. Do not pull the tray too far because the float-switch wire remains connected.
6. Press Cancel once to silence the alarm tone, then press Cancel again to clear the F8E4 code.
7. If excessive suds are present, turn off the dishwasher and allow the suds to dissipate.
8. Use only detergent designed for automatic dishwashers and avoid excessive detergent.
9. For the professionally installed F8E4 condition, turn off the water supply and press Cancel once to silence the alarm.
10. In that professionally installed condition, do not turn off dishwasher power and keep the door closed.
11. If F8E4 remains after the applicable checks, schedule service.
