LG Dishwasher OE Error Code

What it means

LG says OE indicates that the dishwasher detected a drain problem, commonly caused by food blockage or an installation issue.

Try this first

1. Turn the dishwasher off before beginning the drain checks.
2. Clean the dishwasher filter and remove food debris. Reassemble the filter correctly before testing.
3. Inspect the drain hose for clogging, kinks, pinching, or freezing and correct any problem.
4. Inspect the waste spigot or garbage-disposal connection and remove debris or a knockout plug that is still installed.
5. If an air gap is installed, remove its cover and cap and clean debris from the air gap.
6. For a new installation, LG says the drain hose must not exceed 12 feet and should not use an extension.
7. LG specifies that the drain-hose end should be at least 12 inches and within 40 inches of the dishwasher base to prevent siphoning.
8. If the dishwasher has CANCEL & DRAIN, use the model-specific two-button combination. LG gives DELICATE plus DUAL CONTROL as an example.
9. If the model has no CANCEL & DRAIN option, start a cycle, allow it to run for 45 seconds, and then turn the dishwasher off; LG says the first 45 seconds are drain-only operation.
10. After maintenance, test with an empty HEAVY DUTY or NORMAL cycle with no dishes or detergent.
11. If OE returns after these checks, LG says repair service is required.
