What it means
Maytag says a flashing Lid light can occur while the washer is checking or trying to lock the lid, and the lid must close correctly for normal operation.
Try this first
- Close the washer lid before starting or continuing the cycle.
- Avoid opening the lid during sensing because sensing will restart.
- Check the lid-lock striker for packaging material or clothing interference.
- Clean detergent or lint buildup around the lid lock and striker with a soft damp cloth or sponge.
Can I keep using it?A brief lock self-test after pressing Start/Pause can be normal; persistent flashing should be checked for lid/lock interference.
Repair usually required?If the lid still will not lock after the listed checks, use Maytag support or service.
