Whirlpool Dryer F4 E4 Error Code
What it means
Whirlpool identifies F4 E4 as a Low or No Line Voltage diagnostic code. The manufacturer says a home power-supply problem may keep the dryer's heater from turning on.
Try this first
- Touch any pad to clear the F4 E4 code from the display and return to the estimated time remaining.
- Check both circuit breakers that supply the electric dryer; electric dryers use a separate 30-amp circuit fused on both sides of the line.
- Remember that one circuit can operate the dryer motor while the other operates the heating element, so the drum may turn even when a breaker supplying the heater has tripped.
- Verify that the electric dryer has a 240-volt power supply. If it does not, contact a qualified electrician.
- Make sure the power cord is installed correctly according to the Installation Instructions.
- If checking the dryer terminal screws, unplug the dryer first and make sure the terminal screws are tight.
- Turn off the dryer circuit breaker or breakers for 1 minute.
- Turn the circuit breaker or breakers back on.
- Start a Time Dry cycle.
- Monitor the dryer for 1 minute to make sure the error code does not return.
